Bill and Lois Carmichael

Lois Carmichael

"Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."
1 John 3:2

Bill went home to be with the Lord on July 1, 2017.

Bill and Lois Carmichael joined Evangelical Baptist Missions in 1955. They served in Mali, West Africa, for almost 20 years as church planters.  In 1975, after visiting relatives in Scotland, they felt God’s call to begin a church in a suburb of Edinburgh, Scotland, the town of Currie, about 6 miles west of the Edinburgh Castle.  They ministered in Currie for 8 1/2 years.  Then the board of EBM asked Bill to become a part of the staff in EBM’s Home office in Kokomo, Indiana. They were 8 years in Kokomo.  During this time, they became members of Bible Baptist Church.  When a need for a pastor for a struggling church in Formby, England, was made known, God again spoke to their hearts about meeting this need, so they went and pastored this church for 10 1/2 years.

After having ministered with EBM for 48 years and entering their senior years, they retired from EBM and moved back to Kokomo, Indiana, where Bill was asked to join the pastoral staff of Bible Baptist church in 2003.

They enjoyed their ministry with Bible Baptist Church in their retirement years.  They mainly worked with the Senior Saints but were involved in other areas of church ministry.  Bill was the pastor in charge of the Missions program and did some counseling.  They were involved in senior ministries and visitation.  Lois was involved in choir and Ladies’ Bible study which met once a week.  She also led the Helping Hands Ladies’ Ministry which met once a month.  And she also had a correspondence ministry with the EBM retirees.

In the fall of 2011, when EBM closed its doors, they joined Ambassadors International Ministries, Inc. (AIMI).  When they had opportunity, they visited their supporting churches to represent AIMI as best they were able.

They enjoyed their ministry with Bible Baptist Church in their retirement years.  Although they officially retired from the pastoral staff at Bible Baptist Church (as of January 1, 2014), they still worked with the Senior Saints and were involved in other areas of church ministry continuing to work with the Missions program and being involved in senior ministries and visitation.  As she is able, Lois continues to be involved in Senior ministries and Ladies’ Bible study.  She also continues to lead the Helping Hands Ladies’ Ministry which meets once a month.  And she continues a correspondence ministry with the EBM retirees.

Bill and Lois have 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren who are living in 5 countries and 5 states.
